Construction Activities:

We will employ all necessary odor control measures. Our contractors understand that keeping odors to a minimum is a top priority, and we will provide appropriate oversight on construction activities.

Over the next three to four weeks, we will be installing a 12-inch gas header at High Acres in Cell 15. This gas header construction consists of approximately 1350 LF of header pipe and multiple lateral connections to gas wells. This involves excavation and trenching into the waste mass for the pipe installation and may cause some short-term odor. We will expedite this construction effort as quickly as we can over the next 3-4 weeks.

Temporary odors may occur during trenching and construction activities necessary for project completion and future improvements.

Renewable Energy Powerplant and Landfill Gas Management:

May 2026 (Projected to come online by the end of Q3/4) Building a State-of-the-Art Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility in the Town of Macedon, on High Acres Landfill Property. This project will beneficially utilize landfill gas that is generated when organic material decomposes in a landfill. This RNG Facility will eventually replace High Acres' existing landfill gas-to-electric with landfill gas to pipeline (RNG).

Continuous use of gas collection wells and flares for odor control. Ongoing work includes raising gas collection wells, installing additional horizontal gas collectors, installing gas vacuum lines, and upgrading the gas collection wells for drainage and collection enhancement. Well-raising is a daily activity in coordination with filling operations.

Landfill Gas Well Installation Project

Project Start Date: July 23, 2026

High Acres Landfill has begun a landfill gas collection system expansion project in Cells 12 and 13. The project includes the installation of eight new gas collection wells and approximately 550 feet of gas collection piping to support ongoing landfill gas management operations.

Construction activities are expected to continue for approximately two weeks, weather dependent. Work will be limited to weekdays.

Odor Control Measures

Maintaining odor control throughout this project is a top priority. The following measures are being implemented during drilling and construction activities:

  • All drill cuttings will be immediately transported and disposed of in the active landfill area.

  • Boreholes will be drilled using a vacuum hood system to minimize odor emissions.

  • Boreholes will be promptly covered and will not be left open overnight.

  • Contractor activities will be closely monitored to ensure all odor control and operational requirements are followed.
