An additional +- 10 acres of temporary exposed HDPE cap will be deployed over cell mid-11 area, with an anticipated completion date end of September.

Renewable Energy Powerplant and Landfill Gas Management:

Continuous use of gas collection wells and flares for odor control. Ongoing work includes raising gas collection wells, installation of additional horizontal gas collectors, installation of gas vacuum lines, and upgrades to the gas collection wells for drainage and collection enhancement. Well-raising is a daily activity in coordination with filling operations.

In the early morning of Friday 8/25, due to the extreme rain and thunderstorm, High Acres Facility lost power for approximately 20 minutes. Backup generators were used during that time.

Scheduled generator service occurred on August 24th.

Q3 SEM scans are scheduled for September.

On 8/2 the New Utility Flare was set in its new permanent location.

Organics Composting:

The organics composting operation (food waste collected from three local universities, St. John Fisher, Nazareth, and the University of Rochester) continues to be managed in the approved organics compost area. Weekly delivery of food waste continues.

High Acres has partnered with Green Renewable Inc. and bagged our homegrown compost to give away to community members at different events throughout the year.

Leaf Composting and Brush/Wood chipping:

Each year, leaves are received from nearby communities and managed at High Acres. They are placed in rows and turned periodically in order to encourage the natural decomposition process. Brush and wood waste received will be ground into wood chips for use by the town and the site to build trails or use in landscape applications. We also have a giveback program with the Town of Perinton for residents to receive homegrown wood chips.
